A Message from
Kassan
Greeting to All,
As I sit behind the walls of Eastern Correctional facility serving my 30th consecutive year, I write to you to express my gratitude and give thanks for your support along my journey to justice. Though my fight for freedom has felt rigorous and unjust, I’m inspired by your empathy and willingness to join us. While this ordeal has been disheartening for my family and I, we’ve endured because we believe our light will outshine the darkness.
While I feel my human life has been disregarded by a justice system I hoped would protect me, I’ve chosen to continue to embody love and morality because I refuse to allow my humanity to be tainted by a gross systemic error. With the support of my family, I remain mentally sound and prepared to have a positive impact within society upon my release.
As a 59 year old man, I reflect on being incarcerated for more than half of my life for a crime I did not commit. On my hardest days, I pull on the light of my children and the unwavering support of my wife. I want nothing more than to be reunited with the people I love most and to be a catalyst for change.
Thank you,
Kassan Messiah
